Omtool's annual Drive for Innovation Award for the legal market is designed to reward the hard work and innovation of our legal customers world-wide who use our AccuRoute solution as the catalyst for document workflow and process improvements. Our goal is to not only celebrate their success, but to also share their challenges and solutions with the rest of the legal community in hopes to spread the benefits of technology and improved business processes.
We had a number of firms submit award entries this year. Our panel of expert judges reviewed each submission and has concluded the top three winners for the 2010 Drive for Innovation Awards.

Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP
Faced with high-stakes legal challenges, the world's most sophisticated clients count on Weil Gotshal to listen hard, understand their business, and deliver unequivocally sound judgment. Founded in 1931, the firm has more than 1,200 lawyers at about 20 offices in the US, Europe and the Asia/Pacific region. Weil Gotshal maintains a full range of business-oriented practices, seamlessly managing some of the most complex matters.
"We're on a mission to scan everything we can and we're doing it with basic, easy tools that everyone in the firm can use, "said Jordan Gilder, supervisor of business systems at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. "Before we implemented AccuRoute, we were voracious consumers of paper, with 1,200 lawyers in numerous practice areas spread across 20 offices around the world, we were processing tens of thousands of pages a day. Now using AccuRoute to scan and store documents, we have significantly cut our paper usage, improved cost recovery, accelerated collaboration inside and outside the firm, process invoices faster and drastically reduced our outside storage cost."
Kaye Scholer LLP
Kaye Scholer LLP is a leading international law firm representing public and private companies, governmental entities, financial institutions and other organizations in matters across the U.S. and around the world. Founded in New York City in 1917, the firm counts more than 450 lawyers in nine offices: Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Menlo Park, New York, Shanghai, Washington, DC and West Palm Beach (FL).
"Last year, our firm was able to reduce the growing rate of storage requirements by 20%," said John Franco, records manager at Kaye Scholer, LLP. "In fact, prior to adopting AccuRoute, our firm would have over 150,000 requests to pull documents from their storage location; we have reduced this by 90% to just 15,000 requests per year."
Cetrulo & Capone LLP
With offices in Providence, Boston, New Haven and New York, Cetrulo & Capone LLP is a national leader in defending complex civil litigation claims. The firm works closely with corporate counsel, corporate management and insurance executives to provide clients with innovative and highly successful litigation strategies.
"AccuRoute has become a big revenue generator because now we can charge for scanning. We're scanning our libraries to capture back files and historical materials that we no longer want to store o-site," said Michael Minchello, director of information technology at Cetrulo & Capone LLP. "This has had a tremendous impact on our productivity, for example, we had a client ask us to produce copies of nine case files in one practice area which would normally take several people most of the day to search through files and make copies, but with AccuRoute we delivered the nine case files in just a few minutes."
Kelley Drye & Warren LLP
