| AccuRoute Now Provides Document Conversion, Editing, Faxing Capabilities for Mobile UsersNEW YORK, Jan 29, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Omtool,(TM) Ltd. (NASDAQ: OMTL), a leading provider of document
handling products and services, announced today it has made mobile
document handling a reality with AccuRoute for hand-held devices.
AccuRoute gives customers using hand-helds similar document capture,
conversion and communication capabilities they have in the office,
helping to maintain productivity while away from it.
"It was apparent that we needed to support the users who were
reliant on their BlackBerries and other mobile devices. Analyst firm
IDC forecasts that the mobile worker population in the United States
will reach 113.5 million in 2009," said Bob Voelk, chairman, CEO, and
president, Omtool, Ltd. "In response, we enhanced our AccuRoute
document handling platform to allow for text accessibility, conversion
and even faxing from mobile devices further extending AccuRoute
throughout the enterprise."
Omtool developed extensions to its AccuRoute product line to make
documents more accessible for mobile users. For example, AccuRoute
converts document formats that are unreadable or unsupported on a
hand-held device to PDF text format so they are fully visible by
mobile users.
AccuRoute simplifies editing from a mobile device with the ability
to convert PDF documents to Microsoft Word documents. Once changes are
made to the document, it can be redistributed to all needed
destinations via AccuRoute. In addition, faxes, which have
traditionally had limited distribution capability to mobile users, can
now be handled using AccuRoute's integrated enterprise fax foundation.
It delivers faxes to users on their hand-held devices, enabling them
to forward documents or other communications from their BlackBerry via
fax.
"It is extremely important for our lawyers to have access to the
documents they need whether or not they are in the office.
BlackBerries and Citrix have become critical tools for these mobile
users," said Mark Bonner, director of IT, Goodman & Carr LLP.
"Omtool's delivery of AccuRoute for hand-held devices makes document
accessibility that much greater for our mobile users."
"Given our large base of legal customers, we have found across a
number of firms it is critical to access documents on the hand-held
devices. Based on our partnership with Omtool, we are able to fulfill
that need," said Scott MacGregor, vice president of sales and
marketing, Flo-Tech. "AccuRoute for hand-held devices makes document
handling that much easier, greatly improving productivity levels."
