There are three remote options associated with the Omtool Server: Remote Administrator, Remote Composer, and Remote Modem Server.
The Administrator, part of the Omtool Server default installation, must be installed on the Omtool Server; however, you can install it on another system as well—this allows you to manage your Omtool Servers from a location that is convenient for you. When you install the Administrator on a remote system, this system is called a "Remote Administrator".
A composer is a system that converts files into the appropriate formats for delivery. You can add composers to the Omtool Server and to other systems in the same LAN as the Omtool Server, or you can move your original composer from the Omtool Server to another system in your LAN.
Each additional composer requires a unique license.
This is a system that facilitates communication between the Omtool Server and your Brooktrout fax boards. You need to install Modem Server software on all systems where you have installed Brooktrout fax boards.
You can install Brooktrout fax boards and Modem Server software on any system in your company’s WAN. However, you need an additional Telco connector to support a Modem Server located outside your company’s LAN.
The Omtool Server supports up to four remote Modem Servers.
