Introduction

The AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update uses Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) to generate fax messages conforming to the T.37 protocol. It allows you send outbound fax messages as an email to another fax server or fax service provider that accepts T.37 SMTP messages.

Downloading AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update

Use the instructions in the following procedure to download the AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update.

To download AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update:

  1. Go to http://www.omtool.com/support and log in using your customer number.

  2. Click Downloads & Docs in the navigation pane on the left. (It is located under Support.)

  3. Open the AccuRoute or Genifax menu, go to Updates, and locate the download.

  4. Click the download link to begin downloading the AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update.
    The File Download page opens and you are prompted to run the program from its current location or save it to disk.

  5. Select the Save this program to disk option and click OK. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the download and click Save.
    Internet Explorer downloads the ZIP file and saves it to the location you specified.


Applying the AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update

Use the following procedure to apply the AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update.

To apply the AccuRoute T.37 Fax Connector Update:

  1. Disable all Omtool services.

  2. Go to the location where the update was extracted and run om23T37FAX.exe
    The Omtool AccuRoute T37 Fax Connector page opens.

  3. Click Continue. The update utility extracts the update files and the setup wizard opens.

  4. Click Next. The Detect Components page opens and shows a list of installed components that need to be updated.

  5. Click Next. The setup wizard updates the components on the server and displays the results. (If an error message indicates that a file is being used by another process, verify that the Omtool Server Administrator is not running, open Task Manager, end the OM* process that is causing the problem, and then click Retry.)

  6. Click Finish to close the wizard.

  7. Verify that the following files are copied to ..\OmtoolServer\bin

omAdmExtGFT37FAXU.dll
OmConT37FAXU.exe


Adding AccuRoute T.37 Fax connector

Using the Omtool Server Administrator, add the T37 FAX connector. For more information on Server Administrator, consult the Omtool Server Administrator help.

To add the AccuRoute T.37 Fax connector:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > Omtool > Omtool Server Administrator.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Omtool server.

  3. Right click Connectors. Select New > T37 FAX Connector. The License page opens.

  4. In the License text box, enter the license number you have obtained from Omtool sales and click Next.

  5. In the Server Address page verify that Run on the Omtool Message Server option is selected and click Next. The Display Name page opens.

  6. In the Name text box, enter a descriptive name if needed. The default is T37 FAX on the Server and click Next. The T37 FAX Configuration Wizard opens.

  7. In the Domain name text box, enter the domain where the email is to be delivered. The format for the domain should be "@faxdomain.com" or "user@faxdomain.com".

  8. Click Next to open the Congratulations page.

  9. Click Finish.

The AccuRoute T.37 Fax connector is listed in the details pane.


Required configurations

Configuring T37 fax connector

To configure T37 Fax connector:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > Omtool > Omtool Server Administrator.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Omtool server.

  3. Click Connectors to list all connectors.

  4. Double click T.37 Fax connector to open the Properties page.

  5. Click Options tab.

  1. In the Fax domain name text box, verify that the domain name is correct. The format for the domain should be "@faxdomain.com" or "user@faxdomain.com". For example, janedoe@foo.com

  2. In the Email Filter text box, verify you have the correct email filter. The default filter is %prDestinationLocalized%. The format of the filter must match the format that is acceptable at the destination. For example, when sending jobs to a fax domain, the @ sign should be removed. For more information on acceptable formats you can use, check with your service provider.
    The following table lists the other  variables you can use here:

  4. Click Advanced to show the Advanced options.

Note: In the Options to be performed on E-mail address after substitution section, the Encapsulate in Quotes option is selected by default.

  1. Select from the options in the Options to be performed on E-mail address after substitution and Remove the following characters sections.

  2. Click OK to save your changes.

Creating outbound routing rule for T.37 Fax connector

Before you can route a document using the T.37 Fax connector, you must create the following outbound routing rule.

To create an outbound routing rule for T.37 Fax connector:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > Omtool > Omtool Server Administrator.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Omtool server.

  3. Expand Rules.

  4. Right click Outbound > New > Rule to open the Create New Rule wizard.

  5. Click Add to open the Add Rule Criteria page.

  6. Select Destination is a Fax Number and click Next.

  7. In the Items to Match page, verify that is option is selected.

  8. Enter * in the text box below and click Add.

  9. Click Finish, then Next. The Specify the Actions to take for this Rule page opens.

  10. Click Add to open the Add Rule Action page.

  11. Select Route to Connector and click Next. The Route to Connector page opens.

  12. From the Route to Connector drop down list, select T.37 Fax connector.

  13. Verify that for Document delivery Format, TIFF (Image) output format is selected.

  14. Click Finish then Next.

  15. Add any failover action if needed and click Next.

  16. In the Specify a name for this rule text box, add a new name if needed or keep the default name.

  17. Click Finish.

The new rule is created and listed in the outbound rules page.


Optional configurations

This section includes:

Configuring subject and comments of a fax message

Depending on your fax server or fax service provider you can configure fax messages to have a subject and some additional comments. The subject you provide when faxing becomes the subject of the fax message while the comments you provide becomes the body part of the fax message.

The following table lists the subject and message body variables for the T.37 Fax connector:

To configure the Delivery Subject or Comment details:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > Omtool > Omtool Server Administrator.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Omtool server.

  3. Click Connectors to list all connectors.

  4. Double click T.37 Fax connector to open the Properties page.

  5. Open the Options page.

  6. If you want fax messages to have a subject, go to the Subject text box, enter %subject%.

  7. If you want fax messages to have a message body, go to the Message Body text box, enter %comment%.

  8. Click OK to save your changes.

Now when you send a fax using the T.37 Fax connector, you are prompted to enter the subject. This becomes the subject of your message. You are also prompted to enter additional comments. This becomes the body of your message.

Configuring Registered Users

Before you can use the AccuRoute Desktop client to send fax messages using the T.37 Fax connector, configure Registered User profiles in the Omtool Server Administrator to allow faxing.

To configure Registered Users in Omtool Server Administrator to allow faxing:

  1. In the Omtool Server Administrator, expand the console, go to Registered Users, select the user for whom you are configuring and open the Properties page.

  2. Click AccuRoute, and go to the Allow user to route to section.

  3. Verify that Fax option is selected.

  4. If not, select the option.

  5. Click ok to save your changes.

  6. Open AccuRoute Desktop and verify Fax option is listed under Recipient Type.

  7. Verify that when you select Fax option, the document format is listed as TIFF.


Testing the connection and sending a test fax message

To generate a T.37 fax message:

  1. Click Start >All Programs > Omtool > Omtool Server Administrator.

  2. In the console tree, expand the Omtool server.

  3. Click Connectors to list all connectors.

  4. Double click T.37 Fax connector to open the Properties page.

  5. Open the Options page.

  6. Click Test to open the Define Test Properties wizard.

  7. In the Sender email text box, enter the email of the person sending the message.

  8. Click Next. The text boxes you see depends on the Email filter variable you selected in the Options section of the T37 Connector properties page.
    The default is prDestinationLocalized.

  9. Click Finish to open the Test Connection wizard with the fax details page.

  10. In the Subject text box, enter a descriptive subject.

  11. In the Comment text box, enter a short comment.

  12. Click Test Send to send the test fax.
