Omtool supports
Ricoh’s Embedded Software Architecture (ESA) by offering an embedded AccuRoute integration
for Ricoh ESA-enabled devices. This platform enables Omtool to develop customized functionality which can
be installed to run inside these Ricoh MFPs, providing additional capabilities to end-users.
As a result, users can now execute any of the following functions from their Ricoh ESA-enabled MFPs:
- Routing Sheet — Scan a document to AccuRoute using a Routing Sheet
- Public Distribution — Scan a document to AccuRoute by selecting an Embedded Directive (routing rule)
from a list of destinations commonly available to any user at the Ricoh device
- Personal Distribution — Scan a document to AccuRoute by selecting an Embedded Directive from a list
of destinations personally created by that current user (the user logins in via the machine’s custom
authentication procedure)
- Fax — Scan a document and send a fax directly using AccuRoute, with an optional fax cover sheet
- MyAccuRoute — With the touch of a button, automatically scan a document to a pre-configured “favorite”
default Embedded Directive
This AccuRoute integration presents customers with a unique, customized user-experience, as well as
offering the benefits of AccuRoute’s advanced document capture and handling capabilities from the
main control panel of the Ricoh ESA-enabled device without the need for a Routing Sheet.
Omtool’s AccuRoute document routing platform was recognized as the best and most viable commercial
solution by Ricoh USA Corporation and Sun Microsystems, Inc. at the
Ricoh Developers Conference
in Marco Island, Florida.
This award winning AccuRoute solution integrated with Ricoh ESA-enabled MFPs was designed to effectively
provide a complete and robust document capture and handling solution that takes into account critical
business workflows and how enterprises need to most efficiently capture, process, distribute, and retrieve
their paper and electronic documents. Omtool surveyed a large number of Ricoh Dealers who clearly articulated
their desire to have an end-to-end document routing solution that includes enterprise fax functionality from
a single provider. These respondents also validated the AccuRoute feature that enables a majority of the
document distribution work to be completed from each end-user’s desktop enabling easy-to-learn, single-button
operation from the Ricoh Java-embedded devices. According to Ricoh’s VP of Solutions Marketing Division,
“Omtool clearly demonstrated superior creativity and market knowledge to deliver software that is complete
in its services and is viable in the commercial world.”
